Sea Lion Books has sent over a revised version of Patch, based on some very helpful feedback from you guys. I don't know about you, but I am SO happy with what the artist has done this time around. Patch is definitely looking more Patchy! I love that his eyes are a prominent feature now, and I love that his hair looks more unruly. Also, I'm loving the black wardrobe, ha!
Now the big question...what do you think?

ReplyDeleteCertainly much better! I'm really liking the changes! I always imagined his hair falling aroudn his face a little (not in heaps or anything, jsut wisps sort of brushing his face), but this is better than we could have hoped for!

ReplyDeleteWOW, I love the changes. This is more how I'd pictured him. Maybe with some of his hair obscuring an eye a little and a mischievous smile (just a hint on one side), but a big improvement from the last sketch *swoon*. Not that the last sketch wasn't good, it just wasn't Patch for me. The wardrobe is great too, but I'd keep the jacket and change the pants because it might be a little to upscale for Patch to jeans.
ReplyDeleteno no no he looks way too old and the hair is longer than it should be i always imagined him with a sort of round messy kinda haircut that fall on his eyes , black is definitely right but the jacket is too square as in the shoulders are too wide, the chine is too big the eye brows are too close to his eyes , which btw should be a bit bigger and wider, aslo i think that what becca has put hin (i.e long sleeved v cut black shirt, black jeans , combat boots and the infamous faded blue baseball cap ) would be the best look for him , see no matter how different every one pictured him , ull always manage to catch alot of common factors and everyone will be somewhat very satisfied. Oh and he’s standing way too straight I think that in any case a sketch of batch should always look laid black and relaxed

This is a big improvement i really like it:] But.....he should have BANGS that help shadow his eyes and give off that vive that he's hiding something(this slicked back look makes him look like he's TRYING to be a badass...his badassness needs to come naturally)....his eyebrows are a little too stern and straight together(maybe just add a little curviture) ....the eyes are getting much better:]....also AND MOST IMPORTANTLY : NOT SO MANLY! he looks like he's in his mid thirties! This guy could probably be patch in 20 years though:} I know you'll make the right choice in the end though Becca, your books are so fantastic that your graphic novel is going to just as great!

ummm WOW! this is a definite improvement for starters... the artist is incredible! I have to agree with everyone about the fact that he looks a bit old to pass as a 10th grader but he looks great and I love the fact that his eyes are his most dominant feature. honestly hats off to the artist and taking into consideration that I LOVED his drawing of Nora from the start I cant possibly see how it can get any better! I just want to say watch out Nora...resist the urge:)

This artist is seriously amazing! I LOVE this impression of Patch, but I do agree with the others - I did kind of imagine him with hair falling a little over his face just to up the sexy mystique that is SO Patch! He looks like he has long hair here, but it's just got caught in the wind! And I think the ghost of a smirk would be an amazing touch, but I am loving the expression of his eyes. Very...fallen angel. Looks like he wants to protect Nora from Hank Millar!

I think it looks really good, but he kinda looks mean. Also I do not like how his hair is slicked back, it should be more loose and on his facec. Other than that, it looks really good!

ReplyDeleteThis version of Patch is so much better. Sure, it may not be everyone's image of him, but it's pretty good for his overall features. His hair is longer, he looks younger, he's more attractive and an overall fit to the graphic novel. This is a Patch I can be satisfied with. :)

ReplyDeleteI think the posture of his body is good. But I think it'd so much better if the jacket's taken off. And can he just wear a shirt? And I would love to see him wearing his baseball cap. Or is it possible to have him in two version (with and without the baseball cap)? That way we can see whether it's getting closer to the 'Patch' we want or not. I'm so sorry if it's too much to ask.
I love the sketches, though! The artist had done a great job! Really, I love it! :)
But, please-please-please... make Patch more younger? And the grin--please add the mischievious grin also... Thank you...

I like this but it really isn't how i imagined patch :? I imagine him sort of tall and slim but still muscular, this is too stocky, a good take on patch just not... patchy enough

OH THANK YOU!! This patch is much, much better!..how ever there's something about his hair that is..off..but no matter how many versions is drawn of patch every fan is going to see him differently. Hmm, I think that we all have a Patch create in our heads, one that we use to act out little scenes in the book to get a better visual. I imagine him with a hair cut like Avan Jogia, but bulkier in the body.

this model Louis Prades, has a very good hair - kind of like I imagine Patch's
And if he is to wear a baseball cap, put a little bit of hair sticking out to the sides and front.
I like everything about him just not so much the manly face features thought he might look a little more softer with a rough edge to him..
